【英語で何て言う？】使える英語の電話表現

今日は電話の英語表現をご紹介したいと思います。

電話での定型表現は丸覚えしてしまえば簡単です。

私は海外のオフィスで働きだした頃、定型表現を書いたメモを電話の横に貼っていました。

以下、電話での会話例を用いて説明いたします。

Global Cafeのスタッフが英語の電話を受けたとする会話例です。

太字の表現は頻出表現ですのでぜひ覚えて下さいね。

 

（会話例１：カフェに英語講師のポジションへの応募の電話が入る）

トラビス：Good afternoon, Global Cafe. How may I help you? 

ルーク：Hi, this is Luke. I saw the advertisement about the teaching position at  your cafe. Could I speak to Ms. Sakai please?

トラビス：I’m sorry but she is in a meeting at this moment.

ルーク：Do you know when the meeting finishes?

トラビス： The meeting is all day today. May I take a message?

ルーク：Yes, please tell her that I have emailed her my resume.

トラビス：Sure. I will tell her. Is there anything else I can help you with?

ルーク：No, thank you for your time. 

 

・How may I help you?  ご用件は？（店頭などでも使われる表現です）

・Could / May I speak with/to 〜　　〜さんはお手隙ですか

・〜 is in a meeting　　〜は会議中です

・take a message 　伝言をたまわる

(leave a message 伝言を残す、という言い方も使われます）

・Is there anything else I can help you with? 　　他に何かございますか。

 

（会話例２：グローバルカフェが大きくなって、たくさんの部署があると想定します。ジェシィは受付です。）

ジェシィ：Good morning, Global Cafe, Jesse speaking. How can I help you?

レイア :  Good morning, this is Leia Anderson from the New York Times. May I speak with Ms. Sakai please?

ジェシィ: I’m sorry but she is on a business trip now. Would you like me to take a message, Ms. Anderson?  

レイア：How about the manager of public relations?

ジェシィ : I will put you through, please hold.

 

ジェシィ : He is on another line. Is there anything I can help you with?

レイア : Could you ask him to call me back, this is regarding an article in our next issue?

ジェシィ :Sure I will get him to call you. Thank you for calling.

 

・Jesse speaking./This is Jesse.  （電話口で）ジェシィでございます。

・on a business trip   出張で（ is on a business tripは出張中です、という意味になります） 

 

・put you through (to 〜）　（〜に）おつなぎします

・please hold (on)     少々お待ち下さい

・on another line  　他の電話に出ております

・regarding   　aboutと同じ意味ですが、よりかしこまった表現で、ビジネスの場面でよく用いられます

 

（会話例３、セールスの電話）

キース : Global Cafe, how may I help you?

 ハン : Can I speak with Ms. Sakai please?

キース : May I have your name please?

ハン : I’m Solo.

キース : May I ask what this is regarding please?

ハン : I’m calling regarding your website and it’s very important.

キース : I’m afraid she is out of the office now.

ハン : OK, I will call back later.

 

・May I ask what this is regarding please?   どういったご用件かうかがえますか

・I’m calling regarding 〜 /It’s regarding  〜　　　　〜の件で電話しております

・out of the office  (オフィスから）外出中です。不在です
