Ballet is my passion. I live to dance. I dance with passion. (not really…なんて一度書いてみたかっただけです。)
Something you do not know about me….
I am a ballet dancer.
I started ballet when I was four.
When I was little, whenever my mum took me to a department store, I disappeared and my mum always found me in front of ballet goods store.
One day my mum asked me ‘Do you want to wear leotards? Do you want to go to a dance school?’
My answer was ‘Yes.’
That was how I took up ballet when I was four and I continued to go to ballet school until I injured the ligaments in my ankle when I was fourteen.
I sometimes regret quitting ballet and wish that my mum had forced me to continue, but more than that I appreciate my mum for letting me start (for that childish reason) and keeping me in ballet school for such a long time.
Now ballet is more like my hobby and I don’t have much time for ballet since I am running Global Cafe and I have a family, but I manage to take lessons two or three times a week.
Dancing ballet is very physically demanding (especially at the age of nearly 40..) and I am not sure if I am making any progress. But I enjoy my lessons so much because I can concentrate on dancing and forget about everything else, and I find myself very refreshed after each lesson. Also dancing with music and expressing(ish) myself is pure fun.
I believe there is still some passion in me about ballet, dreaming about shining on a stage so please look forward to that in the future!
